This recommendation establishes conservation measures for shallow and deep pelagic redfish (Sebastes mentella) in the Irminger Sea and nearby waters for 2025–2027, based on scientific advice. Its main objective is to prevent directed fishing of these stocks during this period. It introduces strict rules, including a ban on targeted fishing, a year-round closure of a defined area to reduce bycatch, and prohibitions on landings, transhipments, and support services for vessels carrying such catches. Contracting Parties must implement and notify these measures, with provisions for review if new scientific advice emerges and for informing other fisheries organizations.
