This Order sets rules for export quarantine facilities and export quarantines for live animals exported from Denmark to third countries where the destination country requires an official quarantine at an approved quarantine facility before export. It requires quarantine facilities to be approved by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration before use and sets conditions on applications, biosecurity, staff competence, animal housing, loading and unloading, inspection facilities, separation of animals, cleaning and disinfection, storage of feed, bedding and manure, and distance from other animal establishments. Approvals are generally valid for five years and may be subject to conditions, inspections, renewal or revocation. The Order also regulates the start and operation of export quarantines, including cleaning and disinfection before use, signage, prohibition on adding animals after quarantine begins, removal of animals only with veterinary permission, compliance with third-country requirements, notification to the Food Administration, inspection and approval of each animal by the establishment veterinarian, veterinary supervision, reporting of disease suspicion or other compromising events, and record-keeping for at least two years. It includes penalties, including possible imprisonment for intentional or grossly negligent serious breaches, and allows existing approvals under the previous Order to remain valid for five years.
