This Order regulates nutrient-reducing and cultivation-related measures in Danish agriculture for the 2025/2026 planning period. It applies to crop, livestock and mixed agricultural undertakings with at least 10 hectares of relevant crop area, including leased land, and requires covered undertakings to establish mandatory catch crops and, where organic manure use reaches specified thresholds, additional livestock catch crops to reduce nitrate leaching. The Order sets the basic catch-crop requirement at 10.7 percent of the catch-crop base area, or 14.7 percent for undertakings applying at least 80 kg nitrogen per hectare from livestock manure or other organic fertiliser, and allows requirements to be met through alternatives such as intermediate crops, energy crops, fallow land, fallow strips along watercourses and lakes, early-sown winter crops, catch-crop mixtures with nitrogen-fixing species, precision agriculture and reduced nitrogen quotas. It lays down detailed rules on eligible crop types, sowing and destruction deadlines, conversion factors, use of saved or transferred catch-crop surpluses, digital reporting through Tast selv, documentation and control. It also includes cultivation-related restrictions on soil tillage before spring-sown crops and on ploughing fodder-grass fields, with specified exemptions, and provides for supervision, non-appealability of decisions, and fines for breaches.. The Order implements parts of EU rules on nitrates, habitats, water policy, wild birds and environmental assessment.
