The Tripura State Action Plan on Climate Change 2.0 (2021–2030) provides a comprehensive framework for climate-resilient and low-carbon development in the State of Tripura, aligned with India's climate commitments and international obligations under the Paris Agreement. The Plan updates the State’s climate profile and vulnerability assessment and identifies priority sectors requiring adaptation and mitigation interventions. It establishes programmes to expand renewable energy generation through solar energy, off-grid systems, and biogas technologies while promoting energy efficiency in public infrastructure, buildings, and agriculture. The sustainable habitat component focuses on resilient urban development through improved solid waste management, storm-water drainage, and green building practices. The agriculture sector strategy promotes climate-resilient farming through soil health improvement, micro-irrigation, crop diversification, mechanization, and enhanced agricultural productivity. Forestry and ecosystem measures include afforestation, bamboo cultivation, biodiversity conservation, wetland protection, and sustainable management of natural resources. The water mission addresses water security through infrastructure development, drinking-water supply improvements, treatment facilities, watershed management, and measures to enhance water availability and quality. Health-sector interventions seek to strengthen preparedness and response capacities for climate-sensitive diseases and extreme weather events. The Plan establishes institutional mechanisms for climate governance, including a strengthened state climate cell, knowledge-management systems, capacity-building initiatives, and interdepartmental coordination arrangements. It also defines implementation responsibilities, financing options, sectoral investment requirements, monitoring and evaluation indicators, and cross-cutting priorities such as gender mainstreaming, disaster risk reduction, and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
