The State Service for the Protection of Rights to Plant Varieties is the state executive body incorporated into the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. The main tasks of the Service shall be: 1) implementation of the state policy in the field of plant protection; 2) carrying out the state supervision over the acquisition of the rights to plant varieties, registration thereof, expertise of plant for the exposure of GMO, including certification of imported and exported plant varieties; 3) protection of plant varieties; 4) state scientific and technical expertise of plant varieties as objects of intellectual property; 5) state testing of plant varieties for the purpose of determination of the propagation thereof on the national territory; 6) protection of legal rights to plant varieties and the propagation thereof on the national territory; 7) scientific and methodological guidance of the state expertise of plant varieties.
