This Decree of the Directorate of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries, on the basis of section 78 of the Act relative to salmon fishing and inland fishing prescribes that the size of eel caught in watercourses shall be at least 40 centimetres. Fishing with the purpose of releasing the eel in another place in Norway is exempted from the implicit prohibition to catch eel of a smaller size. Contravention of this rule shall be punishable but no penalty is specified.
