According to article 1 the “Thüringia Long Distance Water Supply” is established as an Institute of public law to be known as the “Thüringer Fernwasserversorgung”. Tasks of the Institute are, inter alia: 1) Preparation of potable water; 2) Planning, construction and operation of water plants; 3) Regulation of natural water flow; 4) Maintenance of dams; 5) Promotion of nature protection and care of landscape; 6) Maintenance of surface waters and parts of surface waters connected with the operations of the Institute; 7) Use of hydropower potential; 8)Take-over of maintenance and operations of other dams; 8) Inspection and monitoring of dams as far as the Institute is empowered by the Land to do so; 9) Keeping the water archive of the Land Thüringen. The text consists of 22 articles divided into 5 Parts as follows: Legal form, guarantee, tasks (1); Entrance and withdrawal of partners (2); Organization (3); Economic matters and accounting (4); Transitional and final provisions (5).
