European Communities (Drinking Water) (No. 2) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 278 of 2007).

These Regulations concern the control of the supply of drinking water by water suppliers and prescribe water quality standards and requirements as to sampling frequency, methods of analysis, provision of information to consumers and related matters. A sanitary authority shall control the supply of water in its functional area, whereas the Environmental Protection Agency shall control water supplied by a sanitary authority and its monitoring activities as a supervisory authority. A supervisory authority may require remedial action by a water supplier in case the water supplied does not meet the microbiological or chemical parametric values as expressed in the Schedule to these Regulations. It may also issue directions or grant assistance to a water supplier.
