Emergency Powers Act.

This Act grants powers to the Governor-General of Jamaica to declare a state of emergency and to issue Regulations in the case of a declared emergency. The Act also provides for subsequent validation of such Regulations by the parliament. The Regulations may confer powers on authorities to take measures to secure, among other things, the distribution of food and the supply of water. They may also be authorized to take possession or control of property except land.
