This Act provides rules relative to acquisition of land and other property by the State for public purposes. It sets out procedures and conditions for acquisition either by agreement or on the basis of unilateral action by the Commissioner of Lands. In both cases, a declaration of the Minister regarding the necessity of acquisition for public purposes is required. The Act also makes provision with respect to temporary occupation of private land and appeal to Court against decisions of the Commissioner.
