Legislative Decree No. 53 implementing Directive 2009/16/EC concerning international legislation on maritime safety, sea pollution prevention and conditions on board of vessels navigating in waters under the jurisdiction of Member States.

This Legislative Decree implements European Union legislation concerning the port State control system for purposes of complying with international standards on maritime safety, maritime security and protection of the marine environment. The Legislative Decree regulates inspection procedures on ships stopping at Italian ports.
