Island Law.

This Law prescribes all necessary measures, administrative provisions and requirements, technical and environmental standards, and other basic rules in order to provide all conditions for a safe, environmentally sustainable and secure development and management of the Croatian islands. This Law is based on the principles of the National Island Development Programme, governing the management of island development at the state and county level and at the level of cities and municipalities. Croatian Islands as a natural resource, with a historical, economic and ecological significance, are one major interest for the Republic of Croatia. The Sustainable Island Development Programmes shall list and evaluate the total natural and man-made resources of the islands or groups of islands, especially with regard to unused agricultural land and buildings, and shall define the methods of their preservation or complete and sustainable utilisation in compliance with the principles and guidelines of the National Programme. This Law is divided into XII Chapters and 56 articles.
