This Law, consisting of 14 Chapters, divided into 104 articles, establishes the State Policy on Solid Waste Integrated Management within the State of Sergipe. The objectives of this Policy are: to regulate management, reduce the quantity and the danger caused by solid waste produced within the State; to protect human health, improve the quality of life of populations, preserve the biodiversity and avoid undesired interferences in ecologically weak areas; generate social benefits and look after the economic sustainability determined by a efficient management of recyclable waste, through the promotion of the sustainable development; to offer opportunities and technical assistance for an immediate regularization of related activities in discordance with this legislation and for a correct collection, transport, and rational exploitation and final disposal of solid waste; to protect the environment, etc.
