This Regional Legislative Decree, consisting of eight Chapters and 1 Annex, establishes the terms and conditions for restructuring the Regional Business of Public Sector for water and waste management through merging concessionary business companies and creating a single system of multi-municipal within the Autonomous Region of Madeira. Fundamental objectives of operation and management of the system for water and waste control are to contribute to the population well-being and to meet the public needs in these areas, ensuring the following services: captation and production, transportation, treatment and distribution of water for public supply; collection, transport, storage and distribution of water for irrigation; construction and exploitation of water resources; drainage of urban waste water, treatment, valorisation and disposal of waste to final destination; selective and undifferentiated collection of waste and sorting of recyclable waste; etc.
