This Decree, consisting of 9 articles, establishes the State Renewable Energy Programme (Energias de Minas). The Programme aims to promote and encourage the production and consumption of energy from renewable sources and contribute to sustainable development. Renewable energy is understood to mean electrical energy from solar, wind, biomass, biogas and hydraulic sources generated in Centrais de Geração Hidrelétrica (CGHs) and Pequenas Centrais Hidrelétricas (PCHs). Fiscal incentives and differentiated tax treatment will be granted to businesses located in Minas Gerais, in the form of tax legislation. The renewable energy generation company may request the State to implement transmission line infrastructure, by means of a partnership contract, in the terms of Law No. 18.038 of 12 January 2009.
