The Declaration on Youth Development and Empowerment in SADC was signed in 2015 by the members of the Southern African Development Community. By means of this declaration, the members commit to invest on youth empowerement and employement, supporting their participation and integration in the sustainable socio-economic development. The Declaration focuses on 5 main actions : (i) economically empowering the youth; (ii) enhancing the improvement of social development and competencies for the youth; (iii) creating opportunities for political development and participation of the youth; (iv) promoting Youth leadership development, participation and governance; (v) strengthening knowledge management, institutional support, monitoring and evaluation of youth development and empowerement.
