SADC Disaster Risk Management Strategy and Action Plan, 2022-2030.

This strategy aims to enhance multi-sectoral and transboundary disaster risk management in support of regional resilience in the Southern African Development Community (SADC). It aligns with global frameworks like the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and focuses on five strategic priorities: 1) Understanding disaster risks, 2) Strengthening disaster risk governance, 3) Investing in disaster risk reduction, 4) Enhancing disaster risk innovation and knowledge management, 5) Strengthening disaster recovery interventions. Key objectives include improving early warning systems, strengthening institutional capacities, promoting risk-informed development, and enhancing regional cooperation. The strategy provides an implementation framework and monitoring mechanism to track progress towards building disaster resilience in the SADC region by 2030.
