This Resolution requires contracting parties and cooperating non-contacting parties to agree on the principle of launching pilot projects for the potential revision of the deep-water fisheries restricted area in each Mediterranean subregion to determine the socio-economic impacts of changing the limits of the bottom trawling ban from 1000 m to 800 m. The purpose of this revision is to adopt appropriate protection and management measures for deep-water ecosystems. Before 31 January 2024, the contracting parties and cooperating non-contacting parties wishing to participate in the pilot projects should notify the GFCM Secretariat of their contact points and names of participating scientists.
