Delivering Ag2030.

The Australian agricultural industry Ag2030 (2020) outlines the Australian Government’s strategy, to grow the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors to a combined value of $100 billion by 2030. This vision is driven by industry and supported by government through a coordinated framework of policy and investment. The Strategy responds to challenges such as drought, bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, and seeks to accelerate growth beyond the business-as-usual trajectory. Ag2030 is structured around seven key themes: trade and exports, biosecurity, stewardship, supply chains, water and infrastructure, innovation and research, and human capital. Each theme is supported by targeted initiatives designed to improve productivity, competitiveness, sustainability and resilience across the sector. Trade initiatives focus on expanding market access and reducing export barriers. Biosecurity measures aim to protect Australia’s agricultural reputation and reduce costs for producers. Stewardship programs reward sustainable land and water management and support climate adaptation. Supply chain reforms address fairness and efficiency, while infrastructure investments target regional development and connectivity. Innovation efforts seek to modernise agricultural systems and promote technology adoption. Human capital strategies support workforce development, resilience and recovery from adverse events. The government has committed substantial funding across these areas, including investments in drought preparedness, digital infrastructure, environmental management, and workforce training. The Strategy is designed to be adaptive, with future updates and initiatives expected to build on the current foundation.
