Action Plan for Combating Illegal Trade in Endangered Species of Animals and Plants until 2028.

The Action Plan sets out the Czech Republic’s strategic framework to address wildlife trafficking. It builds on the previous 2020–2023 plan and aligns with the revised EU Action Plan and CITES obligations. The document identifies wildlife crime as a serious threat to biodiversity, public health, and national security, and outlines eight strategic goals. These include strengthening inter-agency cooperation, improving international collaboration, enhancing enforcement and forensic capabilities, and increasing public awareness. Key measures include the creation of a national coordinator, establishment of specialized enforcement units, development of shared databases, and implementation of targeted education and outreach programs. The plan also addresses biosecurity risks, particularly zoonotic disease transmission, and proposes integration into the One Health framework. Implementation is supported by detailed indicators, timelines, and responsible institutions, with funding sourced from national budgets and EU programs.
