This Law creates the State Programme for Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture within the State of Alagoas, whose purpose is to encourage the production of healthy food, promote job and income generation for local communities, stimulate education for new habits, contribute positively to addressing climate change, and strengthen the empowerment of vulnerable populations, including women, youth, and the elderly, through the practice of urban and peri-urban agriculture, aiming to promote food and nutritional security, as well as improve the quality of life of the population.
