This Law establishes the State Policy for the Development and Expansion of Apiculture and Meliponiculture in the State of Paraíba, with the main objective of promoting the sustainable growth and consolidation of apicultural and meliponicultural activities. It seeks to reconcile honey production and related practices with environmental sustainability, technological development, and social inclusion, recognizing apiculture and meliponiculture as strategic activities for rural development. The policy also aims to integrate public policies with the productive chain, ensuring the active participation of producers alongside the public sector to foster economic and social development. It also aims to strengthen the apiculture and meliponiculture value chains by supporting diversification and quality improvement of products, integrating these activities with sustainable agriculture, and enhancing pollination services essential to agricultural productivity. It promotes research, technological innovation, professional training, and the inclusion of young people and women, while supporting logistics, infrastructure, commercialization through cooperatives and associations, and sanitary control of bee colonies. Through credit access, technical assistance, incentives, and sustainable management practices, the law positions apiculture and meliponiculture as drivers of agroecological development, biodiversity conservation, and rural livelihoods in Paraíba.
