This Program establishes the framework for the management of genetic resources of agricultural crops for the period 2021-2027, including plant varieties, breeding material and propagation material. It defines the objectives and measures for their collection, conservation, use and documentation, with the aim of ensuring the availability of diverse and locally adapted crop genetic material. The document regulates activities related to the identification, collection and conservation of genetic resources in collections and gene banks, including ex situ and in vitro conservation, as well as the documentation, evaluation and description of the material. It provides for the study of genetic resources and their characteristics, and for their use in research, education and plant breeding, as well as their distribution in accordance with established procedures. It further defines institutional responsibilities and coordination mechanisms for implementation, including the roles of research institutions and the competent ministry, as well as reporting, evaluation and cooperation arrangements. The Program includes actions for mapping and collecting genetic material, maintaining and updating collections, managing related data systems, and promoting the use and dissemination of genetic resources information, including through participation in cooperation networks.
