Decree No. 69.509 establishing the AgroClimaSP Programme within the Secretariat for Agriculture and Food Supply.

This Decree establishes the AgroClimaSP Programme within the São Paulo State Secretariat of Agriculture and Food Supply. Its principal objective is to create an extensive agrometeorological monitoring network and promote agricultural resilience to climate change. The Programme provides for monitoring and quantifying agrometeorological variables and their effects on agriculture, droughts and other adverse climatic phenomena, and climate-related fire risks in agricultural areas. It also provides for periodic agrometeorological bulletins addressing regional and State programme requirements, rational agricultural water management, crop-yield forecasting and technical support for sustainable agriculture. These measures must be implemented in coordination with the State Water Resources Plan. The Programme may be implemented with the collaboration of State public bodies and entities, eligible municipalities of São Paulo and civil society organisations. Such collaboration must be formalised through cooperation instruments, joint resolutions, agreements or partnership instruments, as applicable, with the relevant procedures subject to legal review and compliance with the cited State decrees. The Secretariat must maintain a dedicated website providing public access to Programme data and information, while the Secretary of Agriculture and Food Supply may issue supplementary implementing rules.
