Resource Mobilisation Strategy and Action Plan 2026-2035

This Biodiversity Resource Mobilisation Strategy and Action Plan (2025–2035) provides a strategic framework for securing sustainable and diversified financing to support the implementation of The Gambia’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP). The Vision of the Strategy focuses on a sustainable, diversified, and resilient biodiversity financing system capable of securing adequate resources for conservation, restoration and sustainable use of biodiversity. Its goal is to mobilise and effectively use domestic, international, public, private and innovative finance to implement the NBSAP 2025–2035. The Strategy is built around four principal financing priorities: 1) strengthening domestic biodiversity financing; 2) expanding access to international environmental finance; 3) promoting private sectors interventions and public-private partnerships; 4) institutional capacity, governance and financial transparency. The objectives of the Strategy include: increasing domestic investment in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration; improving access to international biodiversity, climate and environmental finance; increasing private-sector investment in conservation and sustainable natural-resource management; developing innovative financing mechanisms providing sustainable long-term conservation finance; strengthening institutional capacity, coordination and governance of biodiversity finance; improving tracking, monitoring, accountability and reporting; promoting payment for ecosystem services; strengthening ecotourism as a financing instrument.
