Lakshadweep Action Plan on Climate Change (LAPCC) 2012.

The Lakshadweep Action Plan on Climate Change (LAPCC) establishes a framework for addressing climate change impacts in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, in alignment with India's National Action Plan on Climate Change. The Plan assesses the vulnerability of the archipelago's coral atoll ecosystems, freshwater resources, coastal zones, fisheries, agriculture and tourism sector to climate-related risks, including sea-level rise, coastal erosion, coral bleaching, saltwater intrusion and extreme weather events. It sets out adaptation and mitigation measures aimed at enhancing climate resilience through integrated coastal zone management, conservation and restoration of coral ecosystems, sustainable water resource management, renewable energy development, energy efficiency and disaster risk reduction. The Plan promotes sustainable livelihood strategies, including climate-resilient fisheries, crop diversification, value addition and environmentally sustainable tourism. It further provides for institutional coordination, stakeholder participation, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and the integration of climate considerations into development planning. The Plan also identifies research, data collection and knowledge-management priorities to strengthen long-term climate governance and support the implementation of national climate missions and related programmes.
