Forestry Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. F-30).

This Act makes provision for powers of the Minister of Natural Resources in relation with development and protection of forestry in Canada, the establishment of Forest Experimental Areas, and regulation making powers of the Governor in Council. The Minister shall conduct research and may enter into forest protection and management agreements with provinces, may assume responsibility for protection and management of specified forests, may provide for the making of forestry surveys and provide advice relating to the protection and management of forests. The Minister has, in relation to silviculture, the same powers, duties and functions as the Minister has under this Act in relation to the protection and management of the forest resources of Canada. The Governor in Council may make regulations for the protection, care and management of lands comprised in Forest Experimental Areas and lands in respect of which the Minister has assumed responsibility. Those Regulations may also provide for the protection of fauna and flora.
