The Water Services Corporation shall be the principal body in Malta for the acquisition, production, storage, distribution, sale, or exportation of water for domestic, commercial and industrial use and to provide for the treatment and disposal of waste and sewage water. It shall also undertake and perform functions relative to water resources conservation (sect. 3). The Corporation may supply water to such persons, in such manner and under such conditions as may be authorized by the Malta Resource Authority, shall ensure sufficiency, pressure and wholesomeness of water supply, work at augmenting water resources in Malta and undertake waterworks for the purposes of this Act (sect. 18). The Corporation may also provide a public sewer system and carry out duties relating to waste water disposal and treatment (sect. 19). Section 32 provides for transfer of Government undertakings to the Corporation.
