This Act aims at reducing the risk of salinisation of land and increased levels of salinity in the River Murrey caused by the irrigation activities in the Qualco-Sunlands area. The Act provides for the establishment of the Qualco-Sunlands Groundwater Control Thrust, defines its powers and duties and regulates its operation and activities. The purpose of the Act is to reduce the impact of irrigation. The Act also contains provisions on well drilling and operation and planning.
