Forest monitoring represents the system of regular observations, evaluation, control and forecast on the state of forests. The purpose of the forest monitoring shall be to refresh information on forest stock necessary for the decision-making as regards multi-purpose use of forest resources and forecasts of the changes in the forest ecosystems. Forest monitoring documentation shall include forest stock maps and distribution of forests among forest owners, distribution by areas, species, types of forests, textual and statistical materials on the state and the assessment of the forest stock.
