This Ministerial Decree establishes breadth of protection forest belt along riverside, banks of lakes, water reservoirs and waterbodies and regulates the modalities of definition thereof. Protected forest belts shall be considered areas of public forest located along the aforesaid waterbodies with limited forest management with a view of conservation and concentration of water resources, pollution control, prevention of clogging and siltation of waterbodies, and also protection of habitats of wildlife species. In the rivers without flood bed the breadth of protection forest belt shall be calculated as average multiannual low water level. Minimum breadth for small rivers shall be up to 200 metres on each bank and 500 metres for rivers with favourable environmental conditions.
