The purpose of these Rules is to protect groundwater resources by regulating their use. These Rules provide for terms of office and other conditions of the functioning of the Groundwater Authority and its meetings. The Rules set out procedures and provide forms for the application to the following: well-sinking permits; certificates of registration for existing groundwater users; and licences for carrying out well-sinking businesses and for extracting and transporting groundwater. The Rules further provide for: fees for permits, licences and certificates; preservation of samples of soil and other materials excavated during well sinking; and appeals.
