This Decision approves the strategy for the development of Viet Nam’s coal industry. The strategy aims at developing the coal industry by mining, processing and using domestic coal resources in an efficient and economical manner. Objectives of the strategy, among others, shall include: to promote exploration for increasing verified coal reserves and upgrading existing ones; to develop coal processing in the direction of diversifying products; to prevent environmental and water source pollution; and to closely control the implementation of safety and environmental-related technical processes and standards in coal exploration, mining, transportation and use.
