The present Law regulates the breeding of equine animals (in particular horses), cattle, pigs, sheep and goats. The purpose of the Law is to promote the breeding and production of the said animals in such a way as to: 1) improve their performance and the productions of animal products with a view to improve their health; 2) promote animal products; 3) implement the latest scientific practice in breeding; and 4) conserve the genetic variety of animals. The text consists of 29 articles divided into 5 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Breeding organizations, assessment of breeding value and publication of data (2); Transfer of breeding animals and semen, egg cells and embryos and their use (3); Competent authorities, Animal Breeding Commission, monitoring, export, ordinance, penalties (4); Final provisions (5). Five Annexes are enclosed.
