This Decree-Law, consisting of 6 Chapters and 1 Annex, makes provisions for the implementation of the Council Directive 1999/22/EC regulating the keeping wild animals in zoos. Annex provides for National regulation in order to protect local wild fauna and to preserve biodiversity. The Decree-Law is divided as follows: Animal protection (Chap. I); Animal facilities and transport (Chap. II); Collection management (Chap. III); Teaching activities (Chap. IV); Animal registers requirements (Chap. V).
