This Law, consisting of 9 articles, creates the Policy on Climate Change to be applied within the State of Goiás. This Policy establishes principles, objectives, baselines and tools applicable to prevent and mitigate the effects and adapt the State to climate change. The following are principles of the State Policy on Climate Change: I - sustainable development, through the implementation of measures to stabilize the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere; II - systemic vision in the management of pollutants taking into consideration environmental, social, cultural, economic, technological and public health variables; III - prevention, through measures capable of preventing that climate change irreversibly affects the ecological system; IV - adoption of measures to prevent global climate change; V - access to environmental information in the implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and other relevant legislation; VI - participation of civil society, interested in the integrated and shared management of climate change control; VII - common responsibilities within the State of Goiás to adopt actions to stabilize the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere; VIII - international and national cooperation in order to achieve the objectives of stabilizing the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, respected the needs of economic development and ecological balance.
