This Act establishes the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation and the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation Management Board and defines their functions and powers. The Centre shall have the general objective of accelerating mechanisation in the agricultural sector. It shall, among other things: (a) encourage and engage in adaptive and innovative research towards the development of indigenous machines for farming and processing techniques; (b) design and develop simple and low-cost equipment which can be manufactured with local materials, skills and facilities.
