This Regional Law regulates relations in the sphere of interaction between society and nature originating in the process of economic and other activities producing environmental impact. The main tasks of the Regional Administration in the sphere of environmental protection shall be as follows: (a) formation of economic and social basis in the interests of the present and the future generations; (b) organization of rational nature management; (c) ensuring environmental security; (d) ensuring the right of citizens to favourable environment; and (e) access to reliable information related to the state of environment. Supervision over the state of environment shall be carried out in the following forms: (a) state environmental supervision; (b) production control related to environmental protection; and (c) public participation in the sphere of environmental supervision. This Regional Law envisages voluntary and mandatory environmental audit, and mandatory state environmental monitoring.
