This Law provides all necessary standards, measure and rules aimed to regulate the nature protection related tasks and actions, nature protection as primary environmental challenge on the territory of the Brcko District, autonomous self-governated region of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The requirements prescribed by this Law are regarding the renewal, protection, preservation and sustainable development of landscape, natural areas and/or special conservation zones, plants, animals and their habitats, land, minerals and fossils, and other components of nature. The management of natural areas is organized through a classification system of protected zones, ranging from strict nature reserves to protected landscapes. The Law outlines the procedures for declaring these areas, managing their resources, and ensuring that any human activity within their boundaries is conducted in a way that does not compromise their ecological integrity. Each protected area must have a designated manager and a clear set of conservation objectives. To ensure the long-term survival of native species, the Law introduces strict regulations for the protection of wild flora and fauna. This includes the identification of endangered species and the prohibition of activities that would damage their habitats or lead to their extinction. The Law also regulates the introduction of non-native species and the trade of wild species to prevent imbalances in the local ecosystem. Environmental impact assessments and nature protection requirements are mandatory for any spatial planning or development projects. The Law stipulates that investors must obtain specific nature protection permits before commencing works that could affect natural values. If an intervention causes unavoidable damage to nature, the Law requires the implementation of compensatory measures to restore the ecological balance in another location. The Law establishes a system of administrative supervision and inspection to ensure compliance with its provisions. It outlines the responsibilities of competent authorities in monitoring the state of nature and maintaining a central register of protected natural values.
