This Law prescribes the complete set of measures, provisions and the system for the general protection and conservation of nature and its values (all biological and landscapes diversity) on the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. This Law regulates the basic and specific administrative and/or technical nature protection principles, the sustainable use of all nature resources and more particularly: protection, conservation, rejuvenation and sustainable use of natural resources, in condition of natural balance; nature rejuvenation in harmed areas or their parts and compensation for inflicted damages; establishment of protected areas network, planning system, management, stocktaking, monitoring, information and funding for the purpose of protection of nature; preventing the over use of endangered types of flora and fauna, especially those of particular importance, rare and endangered, and their habitats; ensuring the right of the public for information on the nature state and participation in decision making for nature protection; ensuring the exercise of the right of citizens for healthy environment, relaxation and recreation in nature; prevention of harmful activities in the nature, as a consequence of economic activities by legal or physical persons; to maintain or restore, at favorable conservation status, natural habitats and species of interest for Kosovo according to EU standards; conservation of all species of naturally occurring birds in the wild state (birds, their eggs, nests and habitats). The Law is divided into XV Chapters and 177 articles, including the offences and related penalties.
