Non-Governmental Organisations Act, 2016.

This Act concerns incorporation, registration, administration, etc. of non-governmental organisations and establishes the National Bureau of Non-Governmental Organisations. "Organisation" means a legally constituted non-governmental organisation under this Act, which may be a private voluntary grouping of individuals or associations established to provide voluntary services to the community or any part, but not for profit or commercial purposes. One of the objects of this Act is to promote the development of self-regulation among organisations. The Bureau shall be a body corporate and shall, among other things, register organisations, issue permits, advise the Minister and formulate, develop and issue policy guidelines and supervise District Non-Governmental Organisations Monitoring Committees and Subcounty Non-Governmental Organisations Monitoring Committees. An organisation shall not operate in Uganda without a valid permit issued by the Bureau.
