The purpose of these Rules is to carry out the provisions of the Bihar Irrigation Act, 1997. The Rules provide information regarding operation of canals, procedures to obtain water supply for irrigation. These Rules also set out the process for the assessment and collection of water charges by officers appointed by the State government. Furthermore, the Rules provide forms to be filled for the purposes of undertaking irrigation work, for utilising water supply for work other than irrigation and for works carried out by the Water Users Association of Bihar.
