These Rules state that the foodgrains shall be allotted to the entitled persons by the Central and State governments as per the timelines set by the Public Distribution System (Control) Order, 2001 or any other order similar passed by the Central Government. Furthermore, the Rules also provide that nodal officers appointed by the State governments should oversee the payment of food security allowance in case of non-supply of foodgrains to the entitled persons. Additionally, the Rules provide the process for verification of status of food supply, computation of food security allowance, period within which food security allowance is to be paid, mode of payment of food security allowance and when it is not payable.
