This Regulation sets out the composition, procedure and criteria for appointing of the Technical Supervisory Body and further defines the related procedure and conditions for the recognition of the classification societies engaged in vessel certification activities, such as issuance of technical navigation and vessel certificates, recognition of vessel types, and other related issues as regards the inland navigation. This Regulation contains the same requirements as the Directive (EU) 2016/1629 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 September 2016 laying down technical requirements for inland waterway vessels, amending Directive 2009/100/EC and repealing Directive 2006/87/EC.
