The overall objective of cooperation in agriculture and rural development through this Strategy are the achievement of food security and rational agricultural production, improve standards of living in the rural areas, encouraging production and export of agricultural and fisheries products, support agro-based industralization, development of new and appropriate technologies and promoting sustainable use and management of natural resources (soil, water, fisheries and forest). The vision of the Strategy is a well developed agricultural sector for sustainable economic growth and equitable development while the mission is set out to support, promote and facilitate the development, production and marketing of agricultural produce and products to ensure food security, poverty eradication and sustainable economic development. The text contains 8 major sections covering issues of status of agriculture and rural economy, constrains, challenges and opportunities, the strategic interventions, institutional and financial arrangements, cooperation, monitoring and evaluation and logical framework.
