This Agreement is siged to protect the rights and interests of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and promote the development of cross-Strait economy, science and technology and culture. Both parties agree to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the protection of intellectual property rights across the Taiwan Straits, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and plant variety rights (new plant variety rights) , based on the principle of equality and reciprocity, and negotiate to resolve relevant issues, and to enhance the innovation, application, management and protection of intellectual property rights on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Both parties agree to accept the other party's application for variety rights within the scope of the plant types (the Plant Variety Protection List) announced by each other, and to negotiate on expanding the plant types that can apply for variety rights (the Plant Variety Protection List).
