Decree No. 21.724 approving the Regulation for State Parks.

This Law approving the Regulations for State Parks, which are assets of the State of Minas Gerais, created for the protection and permanent preservation of regions endowed with exceptional natural heritage, or scientific or historical value. The main purpose of State Parks is to: guarantee the preservation of the natural ecosystems encompassed; carry out research of scientific interest; offer conditions for recreation, tourism and educational and ecological awareness activities. The use and destination of the areas that make up the State Parks must respect the integration of their natural ecosystems. The boundaries of the State Parks may not be altered, nor may any part of them be sold or removed, except with the prior authorization of the Federal Executive Power, in the cases permitted by Forest Code No. 4.771 of 15 September 1965. In order to correctly define the boundaries between the Parks and neighbouring areas, suitable internal and external firebreaks must be made.
