Law on metrology.

This Law here defines and regulates the system of measuring units and standards of Montenegro, conformity assessment procedures and related standards with prescribed requirements, authorizations in the field of metrology, as well as other issues of importance for metrology. Metrology, in the sense of this Law, includes the provision of accurate and harmonized standards and measurement units with internationally determined benchmarks and the International System of Units, the traceability of state benchmarks in relation to international and unique measurement in Montenegro. The system of measuring units and standards of Montenegro and the procedures for assessing the compliance of standards with prescribed conditions shall be applied to domestic and foreign legal and natural persons, especially in the following main areas: protection of human and animal health; environmental protection and technical safety; turnover of goods and services; in proceedings before administrative and judicial bodies; free trade. Measurement results related to the protection of human and animal health, public safety, the environment and economy, are available to the public in accordance with regulations. The state standard of a unit of a certain size is the standard that has the best metrological properties in Montenegro and serves as a basis for assigning values to other standards of the same size. National benchmarks are traceable to international benchmarks or national benchmarks of other countries with appropriate metrological characteristics. A national standard does not have to be declared for every size. Conditions for the declaration of the reference standard as a state standard, the method of declaring the state standard, termination of properties of the state standard, the obligation to maintain and use the state standard, are all determined prescribed by the Ministry, among official state standards.
