Resolution-RDC No. 24 – Provides for the offer, advertising, publicity, information, and other related practices aimed at the dissemination and commercial promotion of foods considered to have high levels of sugar, saturated fat, trans fat, sodium, and beverages with low nutritional value, in accordance with the terms of this Resolution, and establishes other provisions.

This Resolution, issued by Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), establishes regulations concerning the advertising, promotion, and related practices for foods high in sugar, saturated fat, trans fat, sodium, and beverages with low nutritional value. Its main goal is to protect public health—especially that of children—by preventing marketing strategies that encourage unhealthy eating habits incompatible with proper nutrition. It requires clear warnings about the health risks of excessive consumption of these nutrients and bans misleading claims suggesting that such products are healthy or can replace meals unless authorized by competent authorities. The Regulation applies to all forms of commercial promotion, including advertisements, free samples, sponsorships, discounts, and educational materials, regardless of medium (e.g., TV, radio, print, internet). It mandates the inclusion of standardized health warnings in all promotional materials and places special emphasis on promotions aimed at children. It prohibits messages that downplay breastfeeding or falsely claim nutritional completeness. Entities have 180 days to comply, and failure to do so constitutes a sanitary violation subject to penalties under Brazilian law.
