This Law, consisting of 32 sections, provides for registration of instruments and filing of judgements affecting land. The Law concerns the following topics: certificate of purchase; State grant and licence; instrument, as a document affecting land whereby one party confers, transfers, limits, charges or extinguishes in favour of another party any right or title to, or interest in land in the State; statutory right of occupancy; local judgement. Matters covered by this Law include: land registry; appointment of registrars; instruments executed before and after the commencement of the Law; requisites of registration; endorsement of consent in the case of certain instruments; description and plan of land affected; documents void for non-registration; methods of registration; filing of judgements; penalties; fees.
